Star Empire Entertainment 스타제국 was founded by Shin Juhak on February 9, 2000. Star Empire specializes in producing R&B and hip-hop music.
Star Empire has been home to idol groups like Jewelry and V.O.S. The label's current roster includes Nine Muses and Imfact.
In 2007, Star Empire signed established artist Poppin' Hyun Joon.
In February 2009, Star Empire debuted soloist Kim Sori, who auditioned to become a new member of Jewelry in late 2006, but was not chosen by the agency. Following Sori's debut, Star Empire debuted the male idol group ZE:A in January 2010. It was the company's first boy group since V.O.S six years prior.
In March 2010, KMP Holdings was established via a joint venture between SM, YG, JYP, Star Empire Entertainment, and other companies like Medialine, CAN Entertainment, and Music Factory. KMP is the official distributor of releases from these companies. KMP stands for Korean Music Power.
Star Empire debuted the female idol group Nine Muses in August 2010. It was the company's first girl group since Jewelry nine years prior.
In November 2012, KMP Holdings was acquired by KT Music, and in June 2013, KT Music absorbed KMP's distribution network.
Star Empire debuted a the male idol group SoReal in 2014. On January 7, 2015, Star Empire announced that Jewelry had official disbanded after 14 years. At the end of 2015, V.O.S. left the company after their contract expired.
In January 2016, Star Empire debuted the male idol group Imfact. On March 4, former Jewelry member Seo Inyoung re-signed with Star Empire Entertainment, returning to the company after having left in 2012.
On January 7, 2017, Star Empire made an official statement that ZE:A's contract with the company had expired.
Star Empire Entertainment's records are distributed by Genie Music and CJ E&M in South Korea, by Universal D in Japan, and by Warner Music Group in the rest of Asia.
All artists under Star Empire Entertainment are known collectively under the name Star Empire Family. In 2016, the label held their first family concert, performing in Tokyo.
