Things to Know

Cube Entertainment was founded on August 29, 2006 by Hong Seungsung, former president of JYP Entertainment, and Shin Junghwa as Playcube Inc.

They made a strategic alliance with iHQ on September 17, 2013. Cube owns Music Cube Inc.

As of 2017, the label's music is being distributed by LOEN Entertainment through a partnership agreement (excluding releases from idol group CLC, which are distributed by CJ E&M Music).

Cube's first two idol groups debuted in 2009, 4Minute in June and Beast in October.

In 2011, sub-label A Cube Entertainment was founded and female idol group Apink debuted. One year later, another sub-label was launched, Cube DC; they debuted male idol group BTOB in 2012.

Comedian Kim Kiri, a regular cast member on "Gag Concert," signed onto Cube in September 2012, making him the first comedian under the label.

In 2013, solo artist Rain signed a contract with Cube Entertainment. He officially joined after he concluded his military service on July 10, 2013. On October 15, 2013, Cube released a digital single for a new solo artist, Shin Jihoon, who had placed in the top 6 for "K-pop Star 2." She is also a figure skater and plans on having joint careers in both figure skating and singing. Another new soloist, Oh Yeri, was signed by Cube and released her debut digital single, "Because of You," on November 6, 2013. She was the winner of MBC's MBC College Song Festival in 2009.

In August 2014, sub-label Cube DC merged with Cube.

Cube's third female idol group, CLC, debuted in March 2015.  In the end of 2015, A Cube Entertainment was acquired by its distributor, LOEN Entertainment. LOEN bought 70% of Cube Entertainment's shares in A Cube, making it the sole owner of the agency. A Cube became a separate label under LOEN Entertainment with the new name Plan A Entertainment.

In March 2016, Cube Entertainment acquired Starline Entertainment as a subsidiary. Singer Wax and Shin Ji Hoon are currently signed under Starline Ent. In June 2016, 4Minute disbanded. In the end of 2016, Shin Daenam was elected to be the new CEO of Cube Entertainment, replacing former CEO Park Chungmin.  New boy group Pentagon debuted in October 2016. This was followed by Beast leaving Cube in December 2016.

In the start of 2017, Universal Music sold its 8% share of Cube Entertainment.  Cube Entertainment has signed a distribution contract with Loen Entertainment for future music & content circulation.

All artists under Cube Entertainment are collectively known as United Cube.  They held United Cube concerts in 2011 and 2013.

Cube's solo artists are Jo Kwon, HyunA, Jang Hyunseung, and Jeon Soyeon.

Cube's idol groups are BTOB, CLC, and Pentagon.
