  About Yongguk  용국

Bang Yongguk 방용국 is the leader and main rapper of B.A.P.

Yongguk was born on Saturday, March 31, 1990, in Incheon.

He and Himchan have a lot in common. They were both born in the Chinese Year of the Horse. They were both born under the star sign Aries. Their blood type is O. Yongguk is 182 cm or 5'11½" tall.

He and Zelo both speak English. Yongguk also speaks Japanese. He studied at KyungHee Cyber University and Yuhan High School. He also attended Gae Woong Elementary School and Gae Woong Middle School. He has an older sister. His twin brother, Yongnam, sings in a rock band.

When he was in his second year of middle school, he posted his own rap lyrics on an online forum. An underground hip-hop group called Soul Connection contacted him, and he joined, taking the stage name Jepp Blackman. Being in the group gave him an opportunity to make industry connections and work on composing and producing. He left the group but continued to pursue music on his own. The hip-hop duo Untouchable got him in touch with TS Entertainment in 2010. He hesitated, worried that becoming an idol would limit him musically, but TS Entertainment reassured him.

He was a TS trainee for six years. He’s a member of the sub-unit Bang&Zelo. He was in Secret’s music videos for “Shy Boy” and “Starlight Moonlight.” He was also in Secret’s Song Jieun’s music video for “Going Crazy.” He collaborated with Beast’s Yoseob on “I Remember” in 2011 and with Secret’s Song Jieun on “Going Crazy.” He appeared in 4Minute’s music video for “HuH” in the “Who’s Next” segment. He was a permanent guest on the variety show “Our One Night/Lulu Lala.”

It’s awkward when Yongguk is alone together with Daehyun. He used to share a room in the dorm with Himchan. At another time, he shared a bunk bed with Jongup and Himchan. His chore was to manage what went on in the dorm. He’s moved out since then. Zelo’s loudspeaker dance in “Power” was his idea. When saying that, if he could be another member, he’d choose to be Youngjae, he explained, “Since my trainee period was long, I experienced it when I was young. I am the oldest in B.A.P., however I never been in the middle before. Therefore, I would like to become Youngjae. As he is between the top and bottom, I would want to know his stress or his hardships and worries.” During B.A.P.’s promotions for “Power,” he had a cyst removed from his hand and wore a cast for over a month.

He likes to play baseball, play basketball, and spend time alone. His favorite colors are red and black. His favorite food is sushi. He’s a fan of 1TYM’s Teddy. His favorite movie is Constantine. He didn’t learn to talk until he was five years old. In “Ta–Dah! It‘s B.A.P.,” he’s an alien who was a legend in their military back on their home planet. He loves Earth‘s war movies and thinks that all of life’s answers can be found in them.

While recording the music video for “Warrior,” fire burned him, even burning off his eyebrows. In an interview, he threatened the fire and warned it to never to do it again.

He loves African-American soul music and once said, “If I can be born again, I’d like to be born as an African-American and do music.”

In B.A.P.’s lore, Yongguk’s matoki is red. It’s called Shishimato.
