  About Jackson  잭슨

Jackson 잭슨 is the main dancer and main rapper of Got7.

Jackson was born Wang Ka Yee 왕가이 on Monday, March 28, 1994, in Hong Kong.  He sometimes goes by the name Jackson Wang.

Like fellow member Jinyoung, he was born in the Chinese Year of the Dog.  He’s an Aries.  He’s 174 cm or 5'8½" tall.  Jackson and Jinyoung’s blood type is O.

He went to the American International School in Hong Kong, where he completed up to the eleventh grade.  He and JB both speak Japanese.  He also speaks Mandarin, Cantonese, French, and English.  He’s Chinese.  He has an older brother.

Jackson was a representative of his country’s national fencing team, earning two gold medals at the Asian Junior Olympics in Thailand in 2011. He began fencing at age 10; he claimed that earning a gold medal was one of his parents’ requirements for allowing him to train in Korea. His father, Wang Ruiji, former coach of the Hong Kong National Fencing Team, became a gold medalist in fencing in 1986, while his mother, Zhou Ping, was a Chinese National Gymnastics member and a gold medalist at the World Gymnastics Championship.

He became a JYP trainee on July 3, 2011. His first pre-debut appearance was on the September 6, 2013, episode of Mnet’s reality-survival program “WIN: Who Is Next.” Jackson, alongside Mark, BamBam and Yugyeom, competed against trainees from YG Entertainment.

Shortly after debut, Jackson was on the second season of the SBS reality series “Roommate,” for which he was awarded the Newcomer Award at the 2014 SBS Entertainment Awards. In December 2015, Jackson made his Chinese television debut as one of the presenters (alongside He Jiong) on the Chinese version of the show “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator” called “Go Fridge.” In 2015, Jackson was appointed as a new MC for SBS’ music show “Inkigayo.”

In his ideal solo concert, he’d rap, beat-box, and perform a song he composed and produced himself.  His favorite musicians are Dr. Dre and G-Unit.  He was Wang Kong in the parody idol group Big Byung.

His favorite foods are chocolate, hamburger, dim sum, carbonara, and chicken.

He’s the most outgoing of the Got7 members.  He used to share a dorm room with Mark and then with JB.
