Brave Girls 브레이브걸스 is a girl group formed in 2011 by producer Brave Brothers of Brave Entertainment.
The band debuted as five with the single album The Difference. The songs "Do You Know" 아나요 and "So Sexy" were their promotional singles for the album. On July 29, they made their comeback with the reggae song "Easily" from their mini album Back to da Future. The group promoted a remixed version of "Easily" on August 13 and released it on August 26. They made an appearance in the movie Mr. Idol.
Following a two and half year hiatus beginning in early 2014, the group returned in mid 2016 with seven members, two being from the original line-up. The new members that made their debut mid-2016 were Minyoung, Yujeong, Eunji, Yuna, and Hayun.
On January 13, 2017, Brave Entertainment released a statement on the departure of Yoojin. Brave Entertainment said: "We are sorry to deliver this news to the fans of Brave Girls who have been waiting patiently for so long." According to the company, Yoojin is planning to concentrate on her education and will study abroad.
On March 14, Eunyoung was revealed as a new member and the leader of the group. She is the niece of Shin Hakyun, an actor known for his roles in Welcome to Dongmakgol and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. Hyeran was revealed on March 17. Yejin became the third member to be revealed. She'd been Miss Seattle at the Miss Korea competition. Seoa became the fourth member of the group. She'd worked as a model before joining the group.
On March 31, Brave Brothers unveiled two images of the group displaying two concepts (sexy chic and colorful eccentric). Two teasers were released of “So Sexy” and “Do You Know” in the first week of April. On April 7, they released their debut single album The Difference along with the music video of “Do You Know.” They made their debut on KBS’s "Music Bank" with "So Sexy" and "Do You Know." On April 24, they appeared on "Gag Concert" and performed a trot version of "Do You Know." Eunyoung appeared on KBS's "100 Points out of 100" show and won 2 medals (gold and bronze) on the show. The music video for "So Sexy" was released on June 8. They had a cameo appearance along with Superkidd on the SBS drama "Protect the Boss."
On July 22, Brave Entertainment announced that the group would make a comeback during the month and shared concept photos of their mini-album Back to da Future. Their track "Easily," featuring Korean reggae artist Skull, was revealed along with the music video. Brave Brothers stated that the song was an homage to Kim Gunmo’s “Excuse.” A teaser for the music video was revealed on July 27. One day later, the music video was released. The EP was released on July 29 and debuted and peaked at number 14 on the Gaon Album Chart, selling 1,606 copies. They made their comeback on "Music Bank" with the song “Easily.”
The group participated at the 3rd Idol Star Athletics Championship on September 13. They had a cameo appearance in "Mr. Idol" with Chocolat and other idol groups. At the 19th Korea Culture Entertainment Awards on December 15, the group received the Rookie of the Year award. On December 25, 2011, they appeared on KBS 2TV's "Let’s Go Dream Team!" as special guests and performed for contestants of the show.
On February 22, Brave Girls' second mini-album Re-Issue was released. They held a showcase with a guest performance from Teen Top. The EP debuted and peaked at #14 on the Gaon Album Chart. The song "Nowadays" charted high on some charts. Instead of a "sexy" or "cute" concept, Brave Girls sported a masculine concept. The members said, “We think that we really need to show a different side of us. We understand that fans who waited for our sexy or cute concept might be disappointed, but hope that they would like this concept too.” Brave Girls made their first comeback stage on Mnet’s "M Countdown."
On August 29, 2013, it was announced that Brave Girls would have a comeback in the fall, with a new song entitled "For You" on August 31.
In February 2014, Brave Brothers reported that he was going to be working on a full-length album for the group, but the album was put on hold indefinitely due to his working with AOA.
On February 2016, after a two and a half year hiatus, it was announced that Brave Girls would be making a comeback as a 7-member group, with five new members and two original members.
The group released "Deepened" on February 16, 2016, as a digital single, with new members, Minyoung, Yujeong, Eunji, Yuna, and Hayun, and former members, Yoojing and Hyeran.
On June 19, it was reported that the group would be releasing their third mini-album in June 2016. High Heels was released on June 27, 2016, alongside with the music video for the title track.
On September 1, the group released "Yoo-hoo" as a digital single.
On January 13, 2017, it was announced that Yoojin had decided to leave the group to study abroad and focus on her education, and that Hyeran had gone on a hiatus due to health issues. The group will continue to promote with five members.
On February 8, Brave Entertainment announced that Brave Girls would be making a comeback in March. On February 26, it was announced that the group would be releasing their fourth mini-album titled Rollin' on March 7, their first release as a five-member group.
