  About Minhyun  민현

Hwang Minhyun 황민현 is the lead vocal of Nu'est.

Minhyun was born on Wednesday, August 9, 1995, in Busan.

Like JR, Baekho, and Ren, he was born in the Chinese Year of the Pig.  His star sign is Leo.  Minhyun, JR, and Ren all share the blood type O.  He and Aron both speak Japanese.

At 181 cm or 5'11½", he's the tallest member of Nu'est.  He's taller than the shortest member, Aron, by 5 cm.

He was a trainee for 6 years and 3 months.  Minhyun says that his happiest time as a trainee was when he was featured in the music video for After School Blue's "Wonder Boy."  He was in Orange Caramel's music video for "Shanghai Romance."  He appeared at F/W 2012-13 Seoul Fashion Week as a model for designer Park Yoonsoo’s fashion show "Big Park."  In 2015, he was featured in indie artist Fromm's track, "Aftermath."  In 2016, Pledis released Minhyun and JR's music video for "Daybreak," part of NU'EST's mini-album Canvas.

He has an older sister named Hwang Sujin.  He plays the piano.  His role models are Eric Benet and TVXQ.  He's allergic to salt.  Even while dancing, he has an allergic reaction to his own sweat and gets a rash.  For fun, he likes to clean and organize.

In 2017, four members of Nu'est competed on "Produce 101."  Minhyun was the only one of them to be voted into the top 11 and make it into the group Wanna One.  He placed 9th with a total of 862,719 votes.  In the third episode of "Produce 101," he chose the members for "Sorry Sorry" Team 2.  In the "Position" challenge, he covered I.O.I.'s "Downpour."  In the "Concept" challenge, he was the center of the "Never" team, which charted at number one in multiple music charts.

On November 29, 2017, he collaborated with BoA in a special opening of 2017 MAMA in Japan, performing "Only One."  BoA personally selected him from the Wanna One members.
