g.o.d. 지오디 is a five-member pop group. The group's name is an acronym for Groove Over Dose. They were one of the few groups to have an album become a "million seller" in Kpop. The members went on to solo careers after discontinuing group activity before making a comeback in 2014.
As one of the most recent million album selling groups in South Korea, they are often referred to as "the Nation's idol" and considered "legends of Kpop" with other first generation idols such as Shinhwa, H.O.T., Sechs Kies, Fin.K.L, SES, etc.
The group debuted with the single "어머님께" ("To Mother"). The music video featured actor Jang Hyuk. After winning the daesang from the three major broadcasting systems in Korea for their multi-million selling 4th album, g.o.d. began a "100-day Human Concert." All of the shows were sold out and each day had a different theme.
The five members also appeared in a Korean TV series called "Baby Diary" in which they acted as a family to take care of a little baby named Han Jaemin. Each one of them had a duty (i.e. Son Hoyoung acted as "mommy" and Park Joonhyung as "daddy"). The TV series was a huge success and widely popular.
On May 3, 2014, g.o.d. surprised their fans by announcing their 15th anniversary concert through a TV advertisement which aired on Korean cable channel JTBC. Yoon Kyesang confirmed that he would join the other g.o.d. members for the 15th anniversary album.
The group released a song on May 8, 2014, to celebrate their 15th anniversary project. That early release produced by Duble Sidekick, "The Lone Duckling," was followed by a full-length album and a concert at Jamsil Sports Complex on July 12–13. All proceeds from "The Lone Duckling" were donated to those suffering from the tragic Sewol ferry accident.
On July 1, g.o.d. released "Sky Blue Promise" as a tribute to their patient fans. Sky blue is their fan club color. The song ranked at the top of Korea's eight major music charts.
On July 8, g.o.d. finally made their successful comeback as 5 members with the release of their 8th album, Chapter 8, and presented the music video of "Saturday Night." The album has 14 tracks.
The group successfully wrapped up their first concert in 12 years, the g.o.d 15th Anniversary Reunion Concert, on July 12, 2014, at Jamsil Sports Complex with around 14,000 fans. They continued their national tour in Gwangju, Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, and Seoul with a total of 10 concerts.
