  About Kangin  강인

Kangin 강인 is a member of Super Junior.

Kangin was born Kim Youngwoon 김영운 on Thursday, January 17, 1985, in Seoul.

He was born in the Chinese Year of the Rat.  He and Sungmin are both Capricorns.  Kangin is 178 cm or 5'10" tall, the same height as Yesung and Shindong.  Kangin, Shindong, Eunhyuk, and Ryeowook’s blood type is O.

He studied at Kyung Hee Cyber University.  He also attended Korea National University.  Kangin, Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, and Kyuhyun speak Japanese.  All of the members can speak some Mandarin.  He’s from Hongeun-dong, Seodaemun-gu.  He’s Christian.  He’s an only child.

During a field trip with friends, Kangin was spotted by a SM Entertainment representative, who encouraged him to sign up for SM’s talent competitions.  He then won Best Outward Appearance at the fourth annual SM Youth Best Contest.  He debuted as a panelist on SBS’s variety show “One Night’s TV Entertainment” in 2004.  He’s a member of the sub-units Super Junior-T and Super Junior-Happy.  He was a regular on the MBC variety show “Image Survival” until February of 2006.

He plays the piano, guitar, and bass guitar.  His hobbies are kickboxing, swimming, and playing basketball.

On September 16, 2009, Kangin was arrested for getting into a fight with two men outside of a bar.  Two men entered a room where Kangin and his friend were and began to argue.  Kangin left, but the two men followed him outside and acted violent.  Kangin tried to stop the fight and acted in self-defense.

A month later, Kangin drove into a parked taxi and left the scene of the accident.  Five hours later, he turned himself into the police.  His blood alcohol content was 0.0082%.  Later that day, he failed to show up for further investigation and had to be called in.  Shortly after, Kangin and SM issued an apology, and Kangin’s activities were canceled through the end of the year.

Following his scandals, on July 5, 2010, Kangin enlisted in the military.  He was the first member of Super Junior to enlist.  He went to the Nonsan military camp in Chungcheongnam-do for five weeks of basic training followed by 20 months of active duty service.  He completed his service and was discharged on April 16, 2012.
