Yesung 예성 is the main vocal of Super Junior.
Yesung was born Kim Jongwoon 김종운 on Friday, August 24, 1984, in Cheonan, South Chungcheong.
He was born in the Chinese Year of the Rat and his zodiac star sign is Virgo. Like fellow members Kangin and Shindong, he’s 178 cm or 5'10" tall. Yesung and Heechul’s blood type is AB.
Yesung majored in broadcast music at Chungwoon University, where Heechul and Eunhyuk also went. He also studied at Sunmoon University. Yesung, Leeteuk, Heechul, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, and Kyuhyun speak Japanese. All of the members can speak some Mandarin. Yesung is Catholic. His younger brother is named Kim Jongjin.
Yesung’s mother encouraged him to audition for SM Entertainment and secretly submitted his application for him. He auditioned in 2001 after winning the gold medal in the ChunAn Singing Contest in 1999. He’s a member of the sub-units Super Junior-K.R.Y. and Super Junior-Happy. He began his acting career in the 2015 drama “Awl.” He sang “It Has to Be You” for the soundtrack of the 2010 drama “Cinderella’s Sister.”
Yesung’s favorite food is spicy fried cabbage. His shoe size is 26-27 cm, which is a US men’s size 9-10. He doesn’t like to drink alcohol. He has small fingers. He had a puppy named Kkoming. If he had to retire from Super Junior, he’d want a career in business. He had his first kiss in his second year of high school. He usually gets cut off on variety shows for talking too much. He once cried at a radio station over thinking that he had no fans. He once had to be hospitalized after running 70 km for a charity race and collapsing. The other Super Juniors complain that he goes to their beds and touches them on the philtrum (the groove in the upper lip) while they’re asleep. While he’s sleeping, himself, Yesung likes to move around a lot. When Super Junior’s staying in a hotel, for example, he’ll get up every 20 minutes or so to sleep in a different bed.
At Super Junior’s Seoul concert during Super Show 5, Yesung announced that he would enlist in the military in 2013. He enlisted on May 6, 2013, and began to serve as a public service officer after four weeks of basic training. He completed his mandatory service on May 4, 2015.
