Momoland has dropped their 3rd mini-album, optimistically titled Great! The girls did a wonderful job on this particular dope release. I like some of the different sounds and styles they experiment with here. In some ways, it's more honest and organic than their previous output. In short, this EP is quite good, if not Great!
1. BBoom BBoom
They've teamed up with Shinsadong Tiger for "BBoom BBoom" so that's a good start. "BBoom BBoom" is a fantastic example of cute fused with a more defined sound. They've come a long way.
On "Curious" they slow things down somewhat, and it almost resembles an acoustic tune, except they add in synths. There are some sweet techno flourishes here, and it's really catchy and soothing at the same time.
3. Same Same
"Same Same" is a playful tune. It sort of recalls their earlier efforts but is still more filled out than those other songs. This is a fun, stomping bop.
"Fly" is an attempt to join several different songs together. It works well for the most part, with some unique time-changes. It's a bit tropical house, a bit more standard dance-pop, with some ballad-like harmonies. It's an interesting tune and overall ear-wormy.
